DID YOU KNOW? The clock at the top of the Exchange Building still runs on Bristol Time, from the days before Greenwich Mean Time.
DO SAY “Alright my luvver?”
DON’T SAY “Mint” or “innit” (if you’re not actually from Bristol).
WHAT TO WEAR Much of Bristol’s fashion sense seems to come from its university students. Be sure to pack your blanket scarves, gilets and eccentric hats.
BEST VANTAGE POINT The Clifton Suspension Bridge is one of Bristol’s finest achievements – and its view is nothing short of spectacular. Best seen on one of the city’s frequently-occurring misty mornings for a truly atmospheric experience.
DIARY DATE Feel festive with a visit to Bristol’s Christmas Market, which runs from 11 November until Christmas Eve. A great place to drink German beer, eat German sausages and buy stocking fillers.
WHO YOU MIGHT SEE With TV presenter Nick Knowles as its most spotted celebrity, Bristol is not the best place for star seeking. Kudos if you come across Tony Robinson and get him to answer to ‘Baldrick’.
WHERE TO STAY Let’s get quirky for a second and consider Bristol’s most unusual Airbnb – the Bird House. Located in Montpelier, the apartment is decorated with animal murals and, helpfully, is located right across the street from two award-winning restaurants.
WHAT TO EAT Bristol’s Marriott Royal Hotel serves up a cracking afternoon tea, and thanks to its stately interiors and iconic frontage, it’s a great place to take those all-important Insta snaps.
