The collaboration

Known for being your everyday uniform, making these jeans durable was a priority. We teamed up with motorcycle manufacturer KTM and riders from the British Women’s Motocross Association (BWMA) to test the styles out. Why them? Well, if our jeans can withstand the stretch required to ride, resist potential wear-and-tear and deal with the dirt, then we think they’re worthy for everyday use.

The BWMA was set up in 2016 by rider Vicky Marriott and her dad, Howard. Their aim was to encourage British girls to reach their riding potential and one day, see a member of their team become the first Women’s World Motocross Champion.

Although female riders have been competing alongside men for some years, it wasn’t until the BWMA was set up that a formal structure and the British Championships were established. They help girls as young as eight years old compete in the eight round national series, allowing them to be recognised for their skills, bravery and achievements.

Motocross has been considered one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports by sport scientists. If the BWMA ladies can ride in our jeans and find them practical and comfy, they’ve passed the test.

The test

The team of experienced riders from the BWMA gathered at the Sweet Lamb complex, a motorsport testing facility in the heart of Llanidloes, Wales, made up of 20 miles of world class gravel and off-road track. They arrived in their racing jackets and boots before getting kitted up in a pair of Jack Wills women’s jeans. Two male pro-riders, also wearing our new denim range, brought a selection of KTM Enduro bikes for the ladies to pick from. After a quick introduction, the riders were keen to get on the track to take the jeans (and the bikes, of course) for a ride.

All riders told us their thoughts on the denim and how it compared to their usual attire, which will feature in our upcoming blog posts.
