BARRELS OF ART

Christo & Jeanne-Claude, The Serpentine, London – until 9th Sept

Stacking up to a whopping 150 metres in height, the 7,506 barrels assembled in Hyde Park’s Serpentine lake is a brand-new artwork from artist Christo and his late wife Jeanne-Claude. Named ‘London Mastaba’, each barrel was painted by the artist himself and is the latest in a line of monumental environmental sculptures (just see their wrapping of the Reichstag!). Boat up and check it out.

GO FOURTH & PROSPER

U.S. Independence Day, United States – 4th July

Shout out to our JW Team over in the US for this one! On the island of Nantucket, our spiritual home after Salcombe, there’s a town-wide water fight between the Fire Department and the Boynton Lane Reserves! Expect loads of family-friendly fun throughout the day, but be sure to head to the beach for fireworks and plenty of sundown shenanigans.

WHAT THE DUCK

Stockbridge Duck Race, Edinburgh – 1st July

This annual charity event enters its 29th year and is a charming addition to the Edinburgh events calendar. Expect 100s of rubber ducks floating down the Water of Leith from around 3pm with the fastest duck winning its owner some fabulous prizes donated from local businesses. Speaking of, you should also hit up our hot sauce collaborators Bonnie Sauce’s restaurant Bonnie Burrito.

GET COURT UP IN IT

RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, London – 3rd-8th July

Gardening is cool now! Possibly one for the horticulturalists among you, or maybe one to treat your parents to, this year the RHS treat us to four gardens as well as all of the usual array of rose tents, vendors and frivolity.  From the dramatic ‘show’ gardens to an ‘Evolution Dome’ the five day event panders to all of your plant-themed needs.

DOWN THE RIVER

Henley Royal Regatta, Henley-on-Thames – 4th– 8th July

First week of July means one thing in the British social calendar. Regatta. Although we aren’t hosting a party this year it’s still worth heading down to catch some of the rowing, and mostly dancing, action. If you’re stuck without a Stewards pass grab yourself a Pimm’s and a blanket, and lap up the famous faces on and off of the water.
